clear to the people who authorized the pick-up that they have some explaining to do and they are responsible for the condition of the vehicle. If they thought you were behind in your payments and tried to contact you, and you did not return their calls, email, letters, etc....then you are somewhat responsible for the problem too. It is always better (for everyone) to talk to a creditor to resolve a payment issue than to force them into collection. Most creditors will work with a person to avoid collection.
